Our Story
ORITO is a fusion of culture and design. Our products are designed in Germany and handcrafted in Colombia, bringing together the resources and skills of both countries. ORITO is a celebration of the rich heritage of cross-cultural creativity and the people we connect with on our journey.
We decided to start ORITO to make beautiful knitwear for children, whilst also supporting those in need. 10% of the cost of each garment is donated to the german association Kinderhilfe für Kolumbien e.V. that supports children and socially disadvantaged families in Colombia. These families are often the victims of violence and flee from rural areas of the country to big cities without taking much with them, looking for better possibilities. This project was inspired in a group of retired women that had the initiative to help families, who struggle to care for young infants. Those women lead nowadays the manufacture of our products.
thank you for your support!
All our products are handmade by Colombian women in small batches, using traditional techniques. With every purchase of an ORITO garment we are able to support financially the projects of Kinderhilfe für Kolumbien e.V. ORITO derives its name from a town in the Putumayo department located in the south of Colombia, not very far from the border with Ecuador. A beautiful place that is rich in its beauty and people and an inspiration for our products.
